The Beneteau First 27.7 is designed to give great sailing performance with accommodation enough to keep you looked after when cruising. She will sleep up to 6 adults in her aft cabin / open plan saloon & V berth layout. The cockpit is large enough to accommodate the crew without feeling on top of each other. The lifting keel gives a minimum draft of 0.65m and the beaching legs allow use of drying moorings.
Single skin GRP hull with structural inner moulding which provides strength and an easy to clean, bright finish to the interior. The white deck is of sandwich construction for an improved strength to weight ratio and better insulation properties. The walking areas on deck are finished with "Picot" non-slip coating. Twin guard wires add to safety on deck.
The hydraulic lift fin keel has a 600kg bulb and is assembled using epoxy based materials for added durability. The keel raises through the centre of the saloon table and is locked in place when lowered.The keel lifting cable was replaced in 2018. There is a single, adjustable lifting rudder with tiller steering. This boat has beaching legs which allow the use of drying moorings.
Some of the shelving units can be removed to lighten the boat for racing.
The boat is powered by a Yanmar 1GM10 9hp inboard diesel engine driving a 2 bladed folding propeller via a Saildrive unit. The Saildrive seals and diaphragm were replaced in July 2016.
A pair of 12V batteries provide engines start and domestic power, these being charged via the engine. 393 engine running hours to date.
Sails and Rigging
Fractional sloop rig with keel stepped alloy mast and spars and stainless steel wire standing rigging. Running rigging is led aft to the cockpit via deck organisers and clutches. There are 2 genoa sheet winches in the cockpit and 2 halyard / reefing winches on the coach-roof. There are 3 sails and all are said to be in "fair condition". The mainsail has 2 slab reefs and the genoa has roller furling.

Accommodation and layout
The First 27.7 holds true to her racing heritage with a simple but functional interior that will sleep up to 6 people in a double aft cabin and open plan saloon and forward berth layout. On entering the saloon, to starboard is the heads compartment with sea toilet, holding tank and hanging locker. Forward of the heads is the chart table and electrical panel. The port of the companionway steps is the entrance to the aft double cabin with hanging locker.
Moving forward is the galley with single burner gas hob, sink with manual cold water, ice box and a variety of storage. The saloon table incorporates the keel box and when the keel is raised it comes up through the middle of the table. The saloon seating either side of the table is long enough for most to use as single berths (2 metres). Forward again is the double V berth.
