Valkyrie is a 2002 Catana 582 Ocean Class. Similar to the 581 with additional luxury features.
Located in NYC - United States Customs duty paid, state sales tax paid -British VAT paid by previous owner.
Decent photos here:
58' Length Water Line,
84' mast height.
Valkyrie underwent a major refit around 2012 - Have spent in excess of $300,000 on new equipment and refit - this is mostly equipment, minimal yard/labor fees. - All new:
Reefing lines to main sail run underneath bridegedeck - to main cockpit winch. This works well. However, the lazy jack lines can disrupt the process. I have designed, and installed, and debugged another system to lower and remove the lazy jack system from the cockpit. So never a need to go forward...
2016 13' 7" Zodiac Tender Yachline series YL420DL- F60HP Yamaha engine.
8' Walker bay row boat, with sail kit.
water toys, and safety equipment
Copious amounts of fishing gear.
Plenty of tools and spares.
April 2018 Survey by insurance company - found in great condition. Also surveyed by Coast Guard - with similar results.
Survey available upon request.
The Catanas, specifically the 582 series are, IMO, the best Ocean Cruising vessels available, Along with the major and extremely beneficial enhancements I have made, make this probably the best Ocean Cruiser available. Easily shorthanded operation - for one person - 2 not a problem...Whether local waters or Ocean cruising, and its ready to go - now - 5 minutes notice and we can cross and Ocean.
And you can too.
Paper Charts, Pilot Charts, and Cruising guides - mostly world wide coverage -more detail for Caribbean, and East Coast USA.
Electronic charts for most of world in Raymarine MFDs. Some extra "Silver" and "Platinum" charts too.
As far as cosmetics. Many items have been changed, however, I wouldn't mind replacing the ceiling, curtains, etc: is a bit shabby. And a few other cosmetics...
But, engines, steering, motoring sailing, electronics, navigation it is perfect and ready to go.
Has a fresh coat of bottom paint, and zincs, and Max-Prop grease (I usually grease the props by snorkel) while being surveyed in April 2018
We do several 4 hour captained (by me) charters per summer in the protected waters of the Hampton's - People love it. Great to see and feel how wonderful the vessel is thru other's experience. Comments such as "This is the best day of my life" - " I'm having so much fun", etc, etc...
It is a large and beautiful vessel, very safe and sturdy.
The website with decent pictures is here:
I will provide more photos as necessary.
Please not most of the details are from memory - dates are approximate - I can provide exact details of model numbers, purchase dates, maintenance records etc as required.
Valkyrie is docked in NYC for 2018 , except for July/August in Sag Harbor, NY
This is an owner's version - starboard hull has extensive space for main bunk and huge bathroom, and laundry room - and locking door!. Port side has two similar sized cabins with en-suite bathrooms, and doors! Another "skipper's" cabin is accessible thru a deck hatch forward of the main cabin on the starboard side.
