For sale is a former Coast Guard Defender Class 25 ft Response Boat (RB-S). This vessel was acquired from the Coast Guard earlier this year and is one of the best taken care of examples that they sold off. The vessel was in running condition when I purchased it. Just to be on the safe side, I had a Honda authorized service center go through the 225 HP engines and spent around $6k preventatively in June 2018 to ensure they are in perfect shape. I also had the bottom professionally painted with anti-fowling paint so the boat could be kept in a slip. The vessel is in excellent condition with no known issues. It's turn key and ready to go. The port engine has around 840 hours while the starboard is at around 1,792 hrs. The Coast Guard removed the radar and chart plotter but the Furuno GP-37 and RD-30 electronics are still there for speed, depth, and GPS location readouts.
This boat comfortably cruises at about 40 mph and we hit a top speed in the Long Beach breakwater of 52 mph. The shock absorbing seats are amazing in rougher water. This thing feels like a tank, handles like a sports car, and with the all aluminum construction it doesn't require very much maintenance.
The vessel is currently at Sunset Aquatic Marina in Huntington Harbor, about as close to the exit of the harbor as you can get. The slip costs around $400 a month and is transferable. The original trailer is also included with the sale if you want to store it that way. The trailer is in excellent shape. I have a clear California title in hand.
I did not intend to sell this boat, but my wife really wanted something with more creature comforts for her and our small kids. Her wishes won out and we just bought 45 ft Sea Ray. I can't justify keeping both boats, otherwise we would be keeping this. We had a blast taking it back and forth to Catalina this summer.
