Accommodations

The interior of INDIGO is satin finished mahogany with white overhead accented with mahogany staves, teak and holly sole, and newly updated upholstery. Carpeting protects the teak and holly floors and adds to the warmth of the interior. Curtains are on all ports and hatches. Ventilation is provided from 12 opening ports, three opening hatches, dorade vents and nine strategically placed low wattage fans. Reading, overhead, task and courtesy lights are well placed throughout the boat. Headroom in the main salon is 6ft 3in.

Starting forward is the Guest Stateroom with watertight forward bulkhead between the anchor locker and the stateroom. There is a V-berth with infill, cabinets above the berth to port, starboard and forward, and a hanging locker with counter above aft and to starboard. Two lockers are along the inboard side of the V-berth below the berth. Ceilings are covered with mahogany battens, and there is a large opening hatch and reading and overhead lights. Next aft to port is the Bunk Room with three lockers above the top berth and hanging locker along the forward bulkhead. There are reading lights, opening ports and an opening hatch for ventilation. The forward head/shower opposite the bunk room has easy to clean, white wipe down surfaces and includes a china sink with cabinets above and below, mirror on the forward bulkhead and separate shower stall with outboard locker.

The Main Salon follows with an L-shaped dinette to port and a straight settee to starboard. The drop leaf table comfortably seats six. There are cabinets to port and starboard with a custom wine glass locker and cabinet that houses the 26in flat screen TV (PAL/NTSC, 50/60hz power) above the starboard settee and DVD player. Large storage lockers are outboard and below the settee cushions. The U-shaped Galley is to starboard of the companionway stairs. Counter tops are white laminate, and there are sliding door cabinets above and outboard the counter as well as louvered lockers and Samsung Microwave along the aft bulkhead. Additional drawers and lockers are below the counter. The Force Ten stove is situated in the middle of the outboard counter and the double stainless steel sink is located on the aft counter with both manual and pressure water and soap dispenser. The refrigerator box is on the outboard aft corner of the counter and a freezer box is located behind the nav table. Both are Frigiboat units and the refrigerator box can be used as either freezer or refrigerator. The galley is also fitted out with a custom knife holder. The Nav Station is opposite the galley to port of the companionway stairs. The forward facing top opening nav table is large with plenty of room to layout charts. Instruments are mounted on the forward console and outboard the table with the electrical panel outboard the nav station upholstered seat.

Along the Walkthrough Passageway to the Aft Stateroom there is a hanging locker and freezer with locker above to port and access to the engine room with locker above to starboard. Broker's Comments

An excellent resource for Hallberg-Rassy 46 information is John Neal and Amanda Swan-Neal's Mahina Expeditions website at www.mahina.com. John and Amanda have logged many thousand miles on their Hallberg-Rassy 46. John also wrote a very detailed review of the HR46 in the March 2001 edition of Blue Water Sailing magazine. To quote John's closing paragraph in this review, "In retrospect, I know we made the right decision. The HR46 has met our requirements and has proven a comfortable home. It has been a delight to spend our time teaching, hiking, snorkeling, and meeting people ashore-instead of making repairs. Having a boat that is fun and fast to sail has meant that we can enjoy going for daysails, tacking through narrow passes and negotiating confined anchorages without the need for motoring. And most important, the behavior of the boat offshore and its hardiness in oceangoing conditions are worthy of any skipper's pride."
